The challenge
This stealth-mode startup is creating a market-transforming solution to accelerate building decarbonization by becoming the go-to hub for sustainable building opportunities.
Their platform houses complex financial information that builders use to maximize the impact of their projects. However, inconsistent interaction patterns, unclear user flows, and fragmented UI were creating user confusion.
My approach
A visual design and information architecture overhaul approached through comparative research.
The impact
I developed a framework and design patterns that transformed overwhelming data into actionable insights, allowing builders to efficiently scan, compare, and select sustainability programs based on their specific project needs and impact goals.
A platform transformation
Information architecture overhaul - I improved navigation patterns, restructured user flows, and created a clear hierarchy.
Design system development - I established consistent interaction patterns across all platform touchpoints, implemented a regular design grid system, and developed UI patterns familiar to builders
Comparative evaluation interface - For the main action on the platform, I designed a side-by-side comparison of up to 3 sustainability programs that aligned key information in scannable rows for efficient evaluation. This integrated detailed financial data without overwhelming the primary decision-making flow.
